The magnetic polish trend is a few years old but seems to have made a revival recently, since the “cat eye” look became popular. Here’s my take on it for fall! I used Gelish Magneto Electric Metal Lover on the middle and ring fingers, with Wanna Share a Tent? from the Fall 2018 African Safari collection on the others.

As you can see, I used the starburst magnet, from Gelish. These magnets are hard to find for sale now, since they were released so many years ago, but you can use another brand of magnets

(here’s the one used for a NailPro Magazine demo last year) or magnetic polish to achieve the same look. I’ve even seen nail artists use the side of a normal round or rectangular magnets to create the cat eye look.

Gelish Fall 2018 Collection sneak peak!

Gelish and Gelish Mini just released a sneak peak video of their new collection for fall 2018, called African Safari.  Check out their respective Facebook pages for that vid.

And take a look at this exciting collection! With six new dark shades, Gelish says “Brilliant pearls of sapphire, pewter and garnet complement saturated crèmes.”

The colors are:

  • Are You Lion To Me?
  • Off The Grid
  • No Cell? Oh Well!
  • Wanna Share A Tent?
  • No Sudden Mauves
  • Neutral By Nature

I haven’t found these for sale locally yet, of course, but maybe next month. I can’t wait to get my hands on that mauve!

Up In The Air-heart

sm-13-november-2016-a

This is Gelish “Up in the Air-heart” from the Sweetheart Squadron fall collection.  I topped it with a marble design of Snow Bunny, Black Shadow, and Chain Reaction, then cured.

After applying one coat of Top It off, I also added Glow in the Dark from the Gelish Trends line, then added another coat of Top It Off. Here’s the final product:

The Glow in the Dark polish worked wonderfully! For the purposes of the photo I had to “charge” the nails (hold them under a light bulb for a minute or so) but, beyond that, they glowed every night with no charging. Sometimes I would wake up in the middle of the night and be a little startled by my glowing nails! And, I had this set of nails for about two weeks with no chipping, as usual.

Have you tried Gelish’s new Glow in the Dark polish? If so, what did you think?

Perfect Landing!

sm-15-october-2016

This design was done with the color Perfect Landing by Gelish, from the Fall 2016 Sweetheart Squadron collection.  I stamped the nail art using Fingerpaints Still Life – Is Good! and Born Pretty stamping plate BP-L 003 for the background, then Fingerpaints Calligraphic Calico and stamping plate BP-L 008 for the leaves on top.

Note that this design is over a week old: a testament to how well Gelish stands up to everyday life. Over the week plus that I had this manicure, I did all my normal daily housework as well as some painting on the outside of my house. In the end, the only reason I wanted to take it off was the growth at the cuticle, which is visible in this photo.

So far I’ve used three of the six colors from this collection and they’re all beautiful. What do you think? Have you used any of the colors from this collection?
