Fall nail art

S&M-19-September-A

On these nails are Gelish Holy Cow-girl!, from the Urban Cowgirl Collection, over a base of Moroccan Nights.  The gold glitter toppers are All That Glitters Is Gold layered with Twinkle.  In the photo below you can see that I stamped with Meet the King on the pointer and middle finger nails.  The stamping didn’t turn out as clearly as I’d hoped, but might have worked better if I’d stamped on a darker base color.S&M-19-September-2015

The embellishments are from the Born Pretty Store. This photo was taken after about 5 days of wear and, as you can see,  these flat back gold rounds lost almost all their color. This began on day #2, actually, and progressed over the week with normal wear and tear.

Pink with Petals

S&M 19 July 2015

On these nails:  2 coats of Look at You, Pink-achu! from the Hello Pretty! collection by Gelish  + BLE/M5 water decals from the Born Pretty Store.

The decals looked great when first applied, but did not last long at all. Within a couple hours they began to wear away from the tips of my nails, as you can see in the photo.  I had only used one coat of Top It Off, so perhaps I should have used two for better protection.  Next time I will keep the design closer to the cuticle and leave the tip open.  I had no trouble with wear issues near the cuticle.

French fade

This is two coats of Gelish Ivory Coast with Snow Bunny sponged on the tips to create the fade effect.  On the top half of the nail I also added a coat of A Moment of Magic from the Gelish Cinderella collection.  After I did this set I got really busy and didn’t take a picture. This is after 8 days!

Winter nail art

This is Gelish Deep Sea, with Arabesque water decals and silver flat back studs from the Born Pretty Store.

Stay tuned for a review of these embellishments soon!

wintertime marble

S&M 7 December 2014 (3)

This snazzy combination is Gelish Let’s Hit the Bunny Slopes (gray) and Race You to the Bottom (teal).  I love how the colors in each Gelish collection mesh well together, and these colors are no exception.  The photo doesn’t do justice to Race You to the Bottom – it’s a stunner in person!

My nail art was published again!

A couple months ago I submitted some nail art photos to Nail Art Gallery Magazine, and it was accepted and published in the September issue!  Check out pages 13, 53, and 61.

If you aren’t already a subscriber, you can get a free subscription to this digital only magazine for nail art enthusiasts. It provides plenty of inspiration for nail artists at all levels.

My art deco nail art in Nail Art Gallery Magazine!

I created some art deco style nail art (you might remember it from a few posts ago), and it is featured in this month’s Nail Art Gallery Magazine, page 23.

Blackboard Nails

chalkboard nails

For these nails I used Gelish Black Shadow, and stamped on them with white Konad special stamping polish and Bundle monster stamping plates 311, 401, 409 and 411. On some of the nails I used a 2 coats of Gelish A Pinch of Pepper, although the black glitter is not visible.  Finally, to give the nails the “blackboard” look, I used Gelish Matte Top it Off.

Feather Nail Art

S&M-10-June-2014

On the feature nail the base color is Gelish Tassles, and on the other four nails of each hand it’s Want to Cuddle?.  The feathers are embedded in the Top It Off, 2 coats.  I got the feather from the Born Pretty Store.  After the feather was lying flat and cured, I added a little Am I Making you Gelish? at the base of the nails, and then added medium and small rhinestones.  The issue I had was (once again) the deep curve of my natural nail preventing the 3D nail art from lying flat. I had  to pull the feather pretty far forward on the nail, leaving a gap at the lunula area, which I decided would be best filled in with sparkly things!!

Night Reflection

Night Reflection

For this design I used two coats of Gelish “Night Reflection” and “The Great Googly Moogly” from the Aurora Collection. Then, I stamped with the special black Konad stamping polish and Bundle Monster plate BM-314.  (Yes, you can stamp the ring, as well!) The dark purple makes a great contrast with bright green glitter.  The ring and nail art are even more impressive in person!

If you’d like more information about how to make your own nail polish jewelry, try Sweeter Lemon or Rebecca Likes Nails for a tutorial.  I’ve read that you can find the supplies to make your jewelry at Etsy.com, but I purchased all mine at Fire Mountain Gems and at our local Michael’s craft store.
