Don’t Break My Corazon

S&M 12 November 2017

This design was done with two coats of Gelish Don’t Break My Corazón from the Fall 2017 Matadora collection. This is a stunning red in person, and it is the type of red that goes with everything.

On the middle nails I taped off the inner section before applying the Don’t Break My Corazón. After the polish cured I removed the tape and glued on some 3D net embellishments from Born Pretty Store. This stuff is basically a lot of strings all laid in a random pattern and glue together. It comes to you in a small sheet, and you can cut a strip whatever size you need from it.  It is a flat sheet of it, however, and only slightly flexible. And it is not self-adhesive, so I used nail glue to adhere it to the curves of my nail. It stayed on very well, and I had to soak it off with acetone when it was time for removal.

I’m not sure if this design is really my style, but the product worked well and I got a lot of questions and compliments on it!

Fuchsia stained glass flowers

S&M 18 May 2016

For this design I used Kung Fu-chsia from the Gelish Kung Fu Panda 3 collection. I hand painted the dots using Chain Reaction from the Urban Cowgirl collection. I made decals for the middle fingers using the Born Pretty Store plate BP-07 and clear stampers.  I simply stamped the image, and allowed it to dry on the stamper head (I have several stamper heads on hand so that I can keep working while each one dries), before coloring it in with regular polish. Then, once it had thoroughly dried, I peeled it off the stamp head and placed it on the nail. Then I top coated with Gelish Top It Off. The design has lasted beautifully for more than a week now!

Pink with Petals

S&M 19 July 2015

On these nails:  2 coats of Look at You, Pink-achu! from the Hello Pretty! collection by Gelish  + BLE/M5 water decals from the Born Pretty Store.

The decals looked great when first applied, but did not last long at all. Within a couple hours they began to wear away from the tips of my nails, as you can see in the photo.  I had only used one coat of Top It Off, so perhaps I should have used two for better protection.  Next time I will keep the design closer to the cuticle and leave the tip open.  I had no trouble with wear issues near the cuticle.

This is Gelish Deep Sea, with Arabesque water decals and silver flat back studs from the Born Pretty Store.

Stay tuned for a review of these embellishments soon!

Whoopsy Daisy!

Oopsie Daisy

This design is Gelish Doo Wop on the pointer fingernail and Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Whoopsie Daisy on the other nails.  I am loving the Salon Effects line. They’re the best of several nail decal brands I have tried (yes, including Minx!).  They fit curvy nails very well, and last a long time.

This is Dashing Diva Design FX in Precious Metals on the middle nails + China Glaze Magnetix II Gold Fusion on the others. I used the grid pattern on Magnetix II magnet.

I’m conducting a wear test on the Dashing Diva Design FX, and this is day 1.  On day 1 I did some typing, light cleaning, and cooking/cleanup.  Dashing Diva claims that you can get up to two weeks of wear from these if you use their gel topcoat. I applied the decal then one coat of Gelish Foundation followed by one coat of Top It Off, and I want to see if I can get through at least a week with these.
